Mission Statement
At the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), we're committed to creating a world of work which is safe, healthy and sustainable.
As the world's biggest health and safety professional membership organisation, we're the voice of the profession, campaigning on issues that affect millions of working people.
We set standards and support, develop and connect our members with resources, guidance, events and training.
Our campaign pledge
The incidents of musculoskeletal disorders has grown significantly across workplaces and evidence suggests incidents tend to be higher in the agriculture, health and social welfare and construction sectors. Understanding the issues, assessing the risk and planning for early intervention, including educating the workforce, are essential to achieve our aim to ensure workers remain safe and in good physical health. IOSH is aligning its work on MSDs with that of EU-OSHA to inform and protect more people.

Bev MESSINGER
Chief Executive
IOSH is glad to support this EU-OSHA Lighten the Load campaign. There is much still to be done to reduce the impact of MSDs across all workplaces.
“IOSH will seek to align some of our own campaigning and activity for managing MSD's in the workplace with that of EU-OSHA so that our voice, unified with others, will help to raise awareness, share good practice and improve standards of management that contribute to a safer, healthier world of work.
“This is at the heart of what our 47,000 members based in and advising businesses in, EU member states and other countries, strive to do every day.”
