ETRMA hosts meetings and webinars to promote the management of Dangerous Substances at the Workplace

Events to promote best management practices at the workplace

Even held on the 9th of July at DKI, Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie premises, Hannover.

Over the months of summer, parallel events were held at Spain, Germany and Italy were best practices on managing dangerous substances were shared. The events were hosted in coordination between the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers´ Association, ETRMA, and its members Consorcio Nacional del Caucho, Spain, Assogomma, Italy  and  Wirtschaftsverband der deutschen Kautschukindustrie, Germany.

The events presented among others an overview of the regulations on dangerous substances and worker´s occupational exposure. References to the Carcinogenic and Mutagenic Directive,2004/37/EC, the Classification, Labelling and Packaging directive 1272/2008 and the REACH 1907/2006 were made. The background of each regulation, the new trends and the most relevant items for the rubber industry were discussed

Stress was made on what to take into consideration when assessing the risk at the workplace of dangerous substance. Attendants were presented with an overview of references, official websites of National Health Institutes and technical documents. Participants had an overview on were to find indications to apply risk management measures at the workplace. Suggestions on test methods to measure adequately dangerous substances were also made.

ETRMA also introduced the material and information available at EU-OSHA webpage.  

The attendants included Heath and Safety professional from large companies of the rubber sector, as well as dedicated professional from small and medium size enterprises. Overall the events reached more than 50 participants.
