The objective of this article is to present the evolution of health and safety at work through ergonomic practice, in the last three decades, at Visteon Portuguesa, namely in industrialisation plants. The assembly lines, initially chain-based, were associated with the appearance of musculoskeletal injuries of the upper limbs. Intervention with a focus on one specific area and expanding to the rest of the production chain was a success factor, but the difference in results was made by the cultural evolution, supported by management and implemented by specialist technicians and operators.
