Mission Statement

INAIL is the Italian Workers’ Compensation Authority. It pursues a plurality of objectives: to reduce injury occurrence; to provide an insurance for all workers; to guarantee the reintegration of injured workers into social and working life. It provides information and training, research, advice, assistance and support to enterprises in the field of safety and health at workplace, in the framework of a model of participation and networking with the Institutions, other Bodies and Organisations operating in this field and with the Social Partners.
INAIL represents the Italian Focal Point of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), supported by a national tripartite network, including Institutions, Regions, Social Partners.

INAIL is committed, in particular, to developing actions targeted at the progressive construction of an “integrated information system for prevention at workplace” SINP (according to Art. 8 of Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 - the official national OSH legislation), based on the constant cooperation between Institutions and Social Partners, in order to steer, plan and evaluate the efficacy of prevention policies of occupational accidents and diseases, as well as to address surveillance activities through the integration of specific archives and the creation of unified databases.
