Mission Statement
The European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) is a pan-European membership organisation for cancer nurses – the largest group of healthcare workers in the cancer workforce.

Our mission is to ensure that all people affected by cancer benefit from the care of highly educated, well-informed and competent cancer nurses.

EONS provides leadership in all areas of cancer nursing: research, practice, continuing education, communications and advocacy for better recognition of cancer nursing across Europe.

Our vision is that cancer nursing will be recognised by the cancer community, national and European level policy makers, as a profession with specialised training and qualifications available across the continent.
Our campaign pledge
Our Communications and Advocacy Working Groups will ensure that the materials of this campaign receive maximum visibility. EONS membership consists of many national societies and individual members in the broader geographical area of Europe (refers to 53 countries according to World Health Organization), representing more than 23.000 members in 32 countries. EONS is very active in raising its voice in European policy making, collaborating with our main partners in the cancer care continuum (ESMO, ECCO, EPHA, ECL etc.). Moreover, our newsletter which is sent to Members of the European Parliament and relevant key stakeholders can contribute in making this campaign a joint success by reaching to important decision makers both at national and EU level. For all the reasons mentioned above, we truly believe that the engagement and active participation of EONS can guarantee a successful joint campaign.

Richard KELLY
Chief Operating Officer
EONS supports all nurses working with cancer patients and their families. ‘Safety first’ is our mantra. We believe that cancer nurses need better education, personal protection equipment and support from their organizations and, legislation to minimize both patient and occupational safety risks in cancer care.
