EuroHealthNet: Providing an online database of healthy ageing initiatives

Official campaign partner EuroHealthNet has compiled a useful list of good practices from across Europe aimed at improving the health and well-being of older people.

The examples come from pan-European and national health promotion initiatives, and topics range from nutrition for seniors to promoting independent living. In addition to an overview and impact assessment of around 100 actions, links to additional information are provided.

Highlights include several projects on how to lead a sustainable working life: one such example is ‘Fifti – New Professional Dynamics after 45’, an action co-funded by the Europe Social Fund which provides online guidance and support to employers and workers aged 45+ on topics such as skills and training, workplace risks, motivation and preparation for retirement. Another example, Kestrel, comes from Northern Ireland and supports unemployed people who are over 50, especially those who have been excluded from the labour market due to some type of disadvantage. The aim is to increase the employability of this group of people by providing opportunities to develop new learning and skills.

EuroHealthNet is a partnership of public bodies across Europe which promote public health, disease prevention and address issues such as social inequality.
