Employers’ practices for Active Ageing
This resource compiles the findings of the ‘Age management policies in enterprises in Europe’ project, run by BusinessEurope, UEAPME and CEEP. It highlights the importance of active age management in the workplace and provides recommendations for policy-makers on how this can be supported by policies. Case studies are also included that demonstrate innovative practices from different Member States.
This is a report compiling the findings of the ‘Age management policies in enterprises in Europe’ project, run by BusinessEurope, UEAPME and CEEP. The aims of the project were to:
better understand how employers can encourage older workers to remain in the labour market and ensure flexible retirement processes to address the challenges of an ageing workforce;
map good practice among private and public sector employers (including small and medium-sized enterprises) across all Member States, underpinned with a strong understanding of the policy framework that these employers operate within;
develop recommendations on how active ageing should be addressed at the European level and further actions that employers could take — separately or jointly with trade unions — to better tackle the impact of demographic change on the labour market.
The report presents a number of case studies that demonstrate innovative practices from different Member States, which reflect the themes of the report: the business case for active age management, workforce mapping and planning, being age positive, age-positive recruitment, flexible working, maintaining work ability, inter-generational engagement and succession planning. The report also makes recommendations for policy-makers.
