“Hotspot on chemistry” events train Danish workers on risks of chemical substances

Throughout September 2019, NIRAS invited companies from a range of sectors to 4 “Hotspot on chemistry” events across Denmark – taking place in Aalborg, Aarhus, Kolding and Allerød. Around 200 participants from various private and public companies, including industry and service sectors took part.

Official campaign partner NIRAS is focusing several communication activities on raising awareness of the risks related to dangerous chemicals. During their “Hotspot on chemistry” events they discussed chemical risk assessments and provided participants with tools and methods to prevent accidents and work-related illnesses. Speakers also highlighted the Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign, its messages and materials.

The events aimed to encourage companies to maintain a high focus on the management of dangerous chemicals to ensure safer and healthier working environments for all employees. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices.

In addition, NIRAS provided daily counseling to companies throughout Denmark, offering practical instructions and training sessions. They explained possible prevention measures, such as substituting hazardous chemicals or improving the layout of workplaces.
