A workshop on day 1 on ‘How to manage dangerous substances during maintenance operations’ features a presentation by Lothar Lieck, an expert on dangerous substances from EU-OSHA. He presents the Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign, explaining the approach, activities, structure and the key messages of the campaign. Lothar Lieck also highlights the importance of campaign supporters who are essential in promoting a culture of risk prevention throughout Europe.
The presentation looks at how campaign tools and resources, such as the interactive e-tool, can assist companies in managing dangerous substances during maintenance operations, and gives an overview of real-life case studies that illustrate for example how to ensure safety through effective maintenance at a pesticide manufacturing plant. Lothar also presents the Good Practice Awards which can serve as a great source of motivation when working towards improving workplace safety and health.
