The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) has a long-standing interest in occupational health, and it has participated in the Healthy Workplaces campaigns since 2011. CPME believes that occupational health and safety are key elements of a sustainable workplace environment and work-life balance, and therefore essential to support economic and personal well-being. Healthy workplaces are also part of the socio-economic determinants of health, and one of CPME's objectives is to fight against health inequalities. In the 2018-19 campaign, doctors have a significant role in raising awareness of the risks posed by dangerous substances in the workplace and in promoting a culture of risk prevention.
The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) represents national medical associations across Europe. We are committed to contributing the medical profession’s point of view to EU institutions and European policy-making through pro-active cooperation on a wide range of health and healthcare related issues. We believe the best possible quality of health and access to healthcare should be a reality for everyone. We see the patient-doctor relationship as fundamental in achieving these objectives. We are committed to interdisciplinary cooperation among doctors and with other health professions. We strongly advocate a ‘health in all policies’ approach to encourage cross-sectorial awareness for and action on the determinants of health.
The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) pledge to raise awareness among the profession of the risks posed by dangerous substances in the workplace and to promote a culture of risk prevention to eliminate or manage these risks. This way, CPME continues its long-standing interest in occupational health and safety.
