UEAPME Secretary General
As crafts and SME employers, we are committed to promoting safe and healthy workplaces. Dangerous substances are a serious threat to the health of workers and employers, and it is therefore our priority to help tackling those risks in the best way. A culture of risk prevention is common in small businesses, but it is important to keep raising awareness of the need to identify those risks. SMEs, especially micro-companies, need tailored support in adapting their workplaces in the most feasible way due to limited capacity, and here lies an important task for cooperation between the companies, business organisations, and labour inspectorates. Healthy workplaces are a win-win for employers and employees, and as UEAPME we are happy to join this campaign.
UEAPME (European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) is the employers' organisation representing the interests of European crafts, trades and SMEs at EU level. UEAPME is a recognised European Social Partner and acts on behalf of crafts and SMEs in the European Social Dialogue and in discussions with the EU institutions. Among its objectives, UEAPME strives to keep its members informed on all matters of European Union policy and support them academically, technically and legally on all areas of EU policy including Occupational Safety and Health. UEAPME endeavours to ensure that the interests of crafts and SMEs are taken into account in all legislation that has an impact on them.
Mūsu kampaņas apņemšanās:
UEAPME will actively promote the OSHA campaign by informing its member organisations through various channels. We will reach out to our member organisations by raising awareness of the need for managing dangerous substances in SMEs and micro-companies. We will do so by promoting risk assessment, by sharing tools and practices, by raising attention to the campaign on our website and social media, and by inviting OSHA representatives to our meetings. At EU-level we will call for simple, feasible, and effective tools and legislation to help SMEs, especially micro-companies, to take action and protect workers and entrepreneurs from exposure to dangerous substances.
