Czechia – Learning more about ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders

Remote working has revealed new challenges in terms of the ergonomic impact on workers, with many employees now adapting to new working environments and routines. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are therefore a critical occupational safety and health (OSH) issue in the context of the pandemic, and employers should recognise the risk they represent.

To focus on this issue and to introduce EU-OSHA’s new Healthy Workplaces ‘Lighten the Load’ campaign, the Czech Focal Point is organising an online seminar on 8 October. The seminar addresses key topics surrounding musculoskeletal disorders and working from home, including providing best practice tips on adapting the home office to become more ergonomic, understanding the importance of OSH during health crises, and how to recognise and respect warning signs given by the body. Speakers also focus on understanding the psychological impact of remote working, and the effectiveness of face masks and respirators in the field of respiratory protection.

The session aims to highlight the importance of preventing MSDs in the context of the new EU-OSHA campaign, as well as examining other OSH risks associated with the pandemic. The seminar is broadcast online from a studio in Prague, and there are opportunities for the participants to ask questions and discuss the topics with the speakers.
