Managing work-related MSDs: good practice examples celebrated in Slovenia

Award-winning examples of good practice in MSD prevention were presented at a seminar in Ljubljana on 13 October 2022

The Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities organised a seminar to celebrate good practice examples in managing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in Slovenia.

As work-related MSDs are one of the most common causes of absenteeism, their prevention remains a priority for workers and employers. This event aimed at honouring the national winners of the Good Practice Awards 2020-2022. One is the Home Care Center Maribor with their ProAkt programme for workplaces health promotion among care workers. And the other winner is Zavarovalnica Triglav, d.d., an insurance company implementing the “Health Care Today Will Pay Off Tomorrow” programme also focusing on improving musculoskeletal health by educating employees and providing ergonomic work equipment. Zavarovalnica Triglav, d.d. is also awarded by the EU-OSHA at the European level of the competition.

Representatives from both organisations presented their examples of good practice in MSD prevention to the wider public and opened a discussion on experiences in preventing and managing work-related MSDs. Short films of the examples were also presented.

Part of the seminar gave visibility to the Senior Labour Inspectors Committee (SLIC) 2022 campaign on MSDs, and Slavko Krištofelc, Director of the Safety and Health at Work Inspection Service at the Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia presented the results of the campaign at national level.
