REACH and OSH seminar
This seminar discusses the Healthy Workplaces Manage Dangerous Substances campaign in the city of Jönköping, as part of a series of awareness-raising events taking place throughout Sweden. It aims to raise awareness of the campaign’s objectives as well as the challenges workers face when handling chemical substances.
Speakers present the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which provides information on the risks posed by dangerous substances. They explain how REACH can play an essential role in establishing safe and healthy working environments.
Speakers introduce measures that ensure an effective risk assessment in the workplace, and discuss the role of occupational safety and health (OSH) authorities in this process. They invite attendees to participate in a risk assessment exercise consisting of an exposure scenario that can be handled by using safety data sheets.
Finally, speakers share good practice examples from different business sectors, showing some different ways of safely handling hazardous substances at work.
