To promote safe and healthy workplaces with all means is the core business of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) and the accident insurance institutions in Germany.
The national and international lead strategy to ensure safe and healthy workplaces is ‘Vision Zero’: A strategy that leads to a world without serious and fatal workplace accidents and work-related diseases.
The Vision Zero strategy copes with the main challenges of a new world of work due to new technologies, demographic change and globalization.
A longer working life with an increased exposure to occupational risks and a possible increase in chronic health problems, needs a working environment that takes the different physical and mental age of the individuals into account, supports active and healthy ageing during working-live, facilitates synergy between the generations, compensates age-related deficits by technical devices or medical improvements, and copes with the error-proneness of humans, e.g. by an error-learning culture.
To learn and to re-learn is of an increasing importance within an ageing society and must be an integral part of all ages to ensure the workability and employability of each individual. The European Network Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH) offers a platform for systematic knowledge-sharing on issues related to education and training on OSH and a special area dedicated to the topic demographic change.
Mission Statement:
The German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) is the umbrella association of the accident insurance institutions for the industrial and public sectors (the BGs and the public-sector accident insurers respectively). It assumes responsibility for the common interests of its member institutions and promotes their functions in the interests of both member companies and insured individuals. The DGUV represents the statutory accident insurance institutions in their dealings with policy-makers, regional, national, European and international institutions, and employers' and employees' representative bodies.
The Institute for Work and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (IAG) is a part of the DGUV Academy in Dresden. Since 2001, the institute promotes safety and health at the workplace by training, research & development and consultancy.
The European Network Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH), a former EU project (D/05/BF/NT-146 253), has been coordinated by IAG since 2005. ENETOSH offers a platform for systematic knowledge-sharing on issues concerning education and training in occupational safety and health. ENETOSH promotes a joint quality assurance of education and training on OSH, an integration of safety and health into education and training at all levels of the education system and the interconnection of safety, health, education and community towards the development of a common culture of prevention. Today, 82 members from 33 countries are involved in ENETOSH.
Our campaign pledge:
ENETOSH will support the Healthy Workplaces for all Ages Campaign 2016 - 2017 of EU OSHA to raise the awareness around the importance of safe and healthy work at any age. The network will especially promote the life-course approach of the campaign. By doing this, ENETOSH will stress the importance of learning and re-learning within an ageing society. In addition the network will raise the question about the different prerequisites for a good learning and working environment at different ages.
