Germany – Using best practice to help prevent and manage MSDs

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are preventable and manageable. Taking an integrated approach — based on the principles of the OSH Framework Directive — and promoting a prevention culture involving both employers and workers are key to tackling the issue.

To this end, the Office for Occupational Health and Safety Hamburg is organising a seminar to give an overview of the topic and the local stakeholders involved in the prevention and management of work-related MSDs. This forms the basis for sharing knowledge and best practice during group discussions between participants and specialists.

Taking place in Hamburg, the 75 participants have the opportunity to talk to representatives of the local occupational health and safety authority, as well as health insurance, accident insurance and pension insurance professionals. The seminar is especially useful for health and safety professionals, occupational physicians consulting SMEs, insurance representatives and labour inspectors.

Speakers:

  • Angelika Braun, Head of Administration at the Hamburg Office for Occupational Health and Safety
  • Dt. Jennifer Kölm, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Judicial and Consumer Protection Authority, Occupational Health and Safety Authority
  • Simone Kromschröder, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Judicial and Consumer Protection Authority, Occupational Health and Safety Authority
