This project involves both workshops and good practice guidance. Its aim was to raise awareness and improve practical knowledge among employers and human resources managers about managing older workers. It is divided into three modules: ‘age management — the strategy of a successful company’, ‘from successful employment to professional redundancy’ and ‘employees’ development — competency management’. Workshops include brainstorming sessions, panel discussion, case studies, exercises, interactive games and tests.

The aim of this tool is to raise awareness and improve practical knowledge among employers and human resources managers about managing workers aged 45 and over. The project, which includes workshops and good practice guidance, was divided into three modules, each of which had separate aims and contained different tasks for the participants:

  1. Age management — the strategy of a successful company.
  2. From successful employment to professional redundancy.
  3. Employees’ development — competency management.

 

 

The methods used during the workshops for employers included brainstorming sessions, panel discussion, case studies, exercises, interactive games and tests. Besides the organisation of workshops, the project was mainly conducted online, via the publication of ‘Initial standards for age management at the workplace (2010)’ and various other informational materials on, for example, elastic forms of employment, protection and promotion of health at the workplace, exit policies and retirement, and benefits of employing older workers.

The project has resulted in the implementation of model systems of age management in the chosen companies (these systems also involve mentoring and inter-mentoring).
